Subject: Interaction with MIS Help Desk

ALAA has been informed that two 1199 members working at the MIS Help Desk, Billy Del Toro and Sharon Jennings, have been subject to verbal abuse by Society employees, among them Staff Attorneys.
While everyone is understandably frustrated with the Society’s computers, the system will not be fixed by mistreating Help Desk staff — who are not responsible for its operation — any more than angry clients get justice by abusing us.

In this case, abuse is not only misdirected and hurtful; it undermines the close relationship we enjoy with the members of our sister Union.

For some time, ALAA representatives have been trying to constructively address MIS-related problems. In the meantime, please bring unresolved complaints about the computer system to the attention of an MIS manager and/or the Union. But don’t take it out on Help Desk staff, who work hard under very difficult conditions.
