Subject: OWS marches to stop a deportation – next Tuesday

As the Occupy movement grows, it’s showing solidarity and mobilizing around more and more issues and diverse communities.  On Tuesday, there will be a march from Zuccotti Park to Federal Plaza to protest the deportation of Ahmed Hossain.  Since it’s a holiday for all of us, I hope people can come out to support.  Ahmed has to appear at the courthouse with his bag packed and may not come back out.  A solid show of support could mean the difference between him being separated from his family and not.

Rally Outside the Deportation Hearing of Ahmed Hossain!

Tuesday, November 8

7:30am March From Liberty Park

8:00am Rally at 26 Federal Plaza*

9:00am Teach-In on Immigration

Rally organized by the Bangladeshi-American Community Council.

March and Teach-In Organized by Occupy Wall Street.

Ahmed Hossain is a father, a husband, a taxi driver, an actor and director, and a community activist. He is scheduled for deportation next Tuesday because of errors on the part of his former lawyer. If Ahmed is deported, he may not have access to necessary heart medication and his wife and two American-born children might lose their home.

Ahmed’s seven year old son Tanmoy keeps asking the same question: Why is his father being punished for a lawyer’s mistake? There is no good answer to Tanmoy’s question. A longtime resident with no criminal record, Ahmed Hossain is one of the people that immigration authorities claim to no longer be going after. They need to hear that we will not stand for this.

*Federal Plaza is at the corner of Broadway and Worth St. in downtown Manhattan. Take trains to Chambers St. or City Hall.

BEFORE TUESDAY:

Call ICE to demand a halt to Ahmed’s deportation.
