Subject: Oxford/Possible  Crisis of Health Coverage for ALAA

Health care costs all around us have been rising to incredible levels.  I think most folks are aware of that.  However, we have been able to maintain our coverage with minimal changes in both costs and benefits.  I think it would be beneficial for all of ALAA if you and the rest of the Executive Board began discussing what our situation with Oxford is, can become and different contingencies in dealing with this issue.

Rather than waiting until the eleventh hour to have us, the membership, vote on plans/recommendations, etc., without ample time to discuss and flush out our options, I would suggest that you generate discussion both in the EB as well as among the membership re this issue.  In this way, the membership is mobilized to defend our health benefits against these likely attacks.  In addition and just as importantly, we wouldn’t have to  go along with anything management recommended just because of  they’ve been the only ones on top of things, so to speak.

I would appreciate all your efforts on our behalf.  Thanks.
